BGH to begin demolition of old building on newly acquired downtown lot Print E-mail

October 2011

On Thursday, October 6, Bonner General Hospital will begin demolition of the existing buildings on its newly acquired downtown lot. The old auto dealer show room, offices, and repair garage on Third Street between Alder and Cedar are not usable by the hospital and are not cost-efficient to heat over the winter months.

The purchase of the lot allows the BGH Board of Directors to evaluate community health needs, along with existing space issues within the hospital. Planning for the lot’s future is in early stages, and the hospital is working closely with the Sandpoint Urban Renewal Association (SURA) on possible building projects.

The demolition contract was awarded to local company CE Kramer and will take approximately three weeks to complete. It is unknown when construction of any new building projects will begin.
